Taft Elementary Gets a New Playground!

NHS had a great opportunity to help William Howard Taft Elementary School, a member of the Boise School District, build a new playground on October 27, 2012. Taft Elementary received a grant from KaBOOM, a national nonprofit dedicated to saving play for children across the country. The build was also in partnership with the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, which provided the majority of funding for the playground.

The transformation took eight weeks of planning and the help of numerous community members. NHS' Lesley Krone was a member of the planning committee and helped fundraise for the maintenance of the playground. Over 300 volunteers, including almost 20 NHS staff and board members, arrived on October 27th and this original playground:

was replaced with this!

What a great gift for some wonderful kids and a diverse neighborhood.  This playground is open to the public, so please visit it with the kids in your life!  Thank you to the many individuals and organizations who made this possible.

Donations to the ongoing maintenance of this playground can be directed to William Howard Taft Elementary, located at 3722 Andersen St in Boise, ID 83703.
