The Lightfoot Foundation Awards NHS Funds for Acquisition/Rehabilitation

Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) has received a $20,000 grant from The Lightfoot Foundation to fund our Acquisition and Rehabilitation of single family homes program – an important sector of NHS’ full affordable housing continuum.

Since the program’s inception in August 2012, NHS has sought to revitalize and stabilize targeted neighborhoods by acquiring and rehabilitating single family homes for sale. Funds awarded from The Lightfoot Foundation will be invested in rehabilitation costs to reduce the purchase price, thereby keeping the homes at affordable levels for low to moderate income families and individuals.

Founded in 1992, The Lightfoot Foundation is a non-profit organization “assist[ing] students in the Treasure Valley who wish to further their education, organizations engaged in the protection and preservation of our environment, and homeless shelters and family housing organizations that help those in need.” This is the first time that The Lightfoot Foundation has funded NHS.

NHS appreciates the support that The Lightfoot Foundation has given for our Acquisition/Rehabilitation program, and its commitment to helping people around the Treasure Valley.
