ACAR Gives To Idaho In A Big Way

04/25/14 at 03:40 PM by Jillian Hanes

As we gear up for Idaho Gives on May 1st, Neighborhood Housing Services would like to thank all of our amazing teams and sponsors who make Paint The Town™ possible.  This month we want to recognize Ada County Association of REALTORS® for its long-time, exemplary support of our affordable housing programs and community volunteer events, including Paint The Town™.  The bar has been set especially high for this year’s Paint The Town. ™ ACAR, one of the event’s sponsors, will have an impressive 9 volunteer teams painting homes this June – three more teams than they had in 2013.

Since 1995, ACAR members have shown their support of NHS in governance, financial, and volunteer capacities.  Their CEO, Marc Lebowitz, is a member of our Board of Directors, and various members like Judy McLaughlin have served on our planning committees over the years.  In fact, McLaughlin is the mastermind behind our Buy A Bucket fundraising campaign for Paint The Town™.

The ACAR Foundation, funded by ACAR members, has donated approximately $190,000 to our Homebuyer Education and Paint The Town™ programs over the past 19 years.  That’s an average of $10,000 a year!  This financial support allows NHS to educate first-time and repeat Idaho homebuyers and give them an overview of homeownership.  ACAR’s funding also helps us to continue coordinating our annual community revitalization event, Paint The Town™, which restores recipients’ pride of homeownership, increases property values, and brings community members together to improve our neighborhoods.

The spirit of volunteerism that the Ada County Association of REALTORS® exhibits is second to none in the community.  An ACAR agent participates in each NHS Homebuyer Education Seminar – educating the clients from a Realtor’s perspective.  Their association also consistently has one of the largest volunteer groups for both Paint The Town™ and Rake Up Boise™ each year.  Approximately 190 ACAR volunteers participated in these events last year – touching the lives of many residents in our community with their energy and dedication.

The mission for the ACAR Foundation is to “enhance the quality of life in Ada County,” and this is exactly what they are doing by giving of their time, expertise, and financial support.  They make a huge impact within our community.

Whether you are working with an ACAR agent when buying or selling a home, or you are volunteering alongside of them this summer during Paint The Town™, you can rest assured that you are working with an individual from an association that is highly committed to helping Treasure Valley residents and our communities.
