NHS Celebrates National Night Out 2006

Nearly 200 people came out to enjoy the 2006 National Night Out Celebration at Neighborhood Housing Services’ Gateway Crossing Apartments in Nampa. The national crime and drug prevention celebration took place on Tuesday, August 1st.
Over 15 families living in the Gateway Crossing Apartments assisted with the planning of the event, many contributing delicious homemade Mexican dishes. Nampa Mayor Tom Dale and Chief of Police Curtis Homer participated in the festivities while visiting with parents, children and community members. Traditional Mexican dancing was performed by the Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo group and comic entertainment was provided by clowns Bubbie and Chedee Annee. Children took turns hitting piñatas, climbing rock walls and slipping down the water slide.
NHS’ Resident Services Coordinator, Terry Graves, organized the event. “We said ‘goodbye’ to crime in our neighborhoods, by releasing 325 balloons of red, white, blue and green colors representing the American and Mexican flags.”
The event was a great success and NHS appreciates the volunteers and donors who contributed to the celebration.
