Retired Senior Volunteers Knit Hats for Those in Need

Children living at NHS’ Northwest Pointe Apartments
were thrilled to receive their new hats

The generosity of a few senior volunteers was felt by many this winter.  As part of an on-going project, the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) knitted and crocheted close to 100 hats for Neighborhood Housing Services’ youth residents.  Nearly 30 Treasure Valley senior citizens were involved in this community service project, making a total of 472 items for those in need.

“In addition to knitting hats for NHS, our volunteers also made items for the Veteran’s Home, Saint Alphonsus’ NICU, the Boise School District and the Boise Samaritan Village,” said RSVP’s Volunteer Coordinator Sue Moore.  The yarn used for the project was donated by the Idaho Youth Ranch and various individuals.

“The children absolutely adored their hats!  Not a single one was left unclaimed,” stated NHS Resident Services Coordinator, Terry Graves. She had the pleasure of distributing the darling hats to the children living at NHS’ Northwest Pointe property. The remainder of the hand-made hats will be given as holiday gifts to children in NHS’ Homeward Bound program.

Thank you RSVP Volunteers!
