Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) celebrated the 22nd Annual Rake Up Boise™ on Saturday, November 17. Over 390 teams of volunteers joined forces to rake and winterize 710 yards for senior and/or disabled residents throughout Boise’s neighborhoods. “Our community is very fortunate to have so many caring individuals who generously contribute their time and energy to help their neighbors,” stated Tom Lay, NHS’ Executive Director.
Nearly 15,000 paper leaf bags were filled with leaves and yard waste. The recyclable bags were taken to the City of Boise’s landfill where they will be composted and used as mulch throughout the City’s parks.
A heartfelt thank you to the thousands of volunteers who helped make the 22nd Rake Up Boise such a fabulous success! And a special thank you to all of the Rake Up Boise Sponsors: 94.9, The River, Channel 6, Idaho Business Review, Key Bank, Idaho Power, City of Boise, State Farm Insurance, Wells Fargo and Zamzows.
And get ready for next year's Rake Up Boise, Saturday, November 15, 2008.
