NHS Partners with USDA to
Provide Summer Lunches

Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) is proud to partner with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide a daily lunch program at several NHS multi-family properties. The USDA-funded program, Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), provides nutritious meals for children who live in low-income areas. In 2004, SFSP provided meals to over 2 million children at nearly 31,000 sites!

Two NHS multi-family properties, Gateway Crossing (Nampa) and Northwest Pointe (Boise), have served as USDA lunch sites for the past two years. A third location, Davis Park Apartments, was added this year. Approximately 160 kids are served throughout the NHS properties every day, which requires much help from local volunteers. NHS truly appreciates the wonderful employees at Boise’s Carlson Leisure Travel Services, who have served lunches to the children nearly every week this summer! Their commitment to the program, and our community, is commendable! Also volunteering this summer is a group from St. Mark’s Church. We THANK YOU!
