Took Place on November 16, 2002

Thanks for joining us for our 18th annual Rake Up Boise™! We raked and winterized the lawns of 725 senior and disabled residents in Boise on November 16, 2002. This annual fun-filled event brought out over 4,000 volunteers to help the community fill biodegradable paper leaf bags that are used in the city's recycle program.

Since the program began, over 67,000 volunteers have filled 182,693 paper leaf bags, for 8,349 recipients. Community building and preserving the pride and dignity of our senior and disabled neighbors are what this program is all about! See you again November 15, 2003.

Volunteer to Help Rake Up Boise™
Fall is just around the corner, which means football games, pumpkin pie, cooler weather, and yes, a rainbow of colored leaves. As beautiful as these leaves are on the trees, when they fall, they are a challenge to many senior and disabled citizens unable to rake what's fallen to the ground. They need your assistance getting their yards winterized. Please join us for the 19th annual Rake Up Boise™. Fill out the following team application and return it to us.

Time to Winterize
Is your home drafty and cold during the winter months? Is your heating bill way too high? With the rising costs of utilities it is very important that your home is weatherized. Weatherizing your home can noticeably reduce your energy costs. The following list is what you can do to make your home more energy efficient.
Use weather stripping or caulk to seal your home's exterior doors and windows.
Repair or replace any defective storm or thermopane windows.
Seal heat delivery ducts and drafts to prevent loss of heat.
Insulate walls, attics, and floors.
Install a water heater blanket.
Have your furnace tuned up, replacing any worn or defective parts.

EI-ADA Community Action Agency provides energy assistance and weatherization for limited income households.
